When I Forget The Dharma, I Suffer

Whenever I forget Dharma teachings, I suffer. I can get caught up in nearly month-long perseveration over passive-aggressive fat-shaming for instance.  I can end up looping comments, conversations, and judgements of the slenders. It's a waste of time and energy.

The Buddha said (I'm paraphrasing) - Do not get caught up in praise or blame.

He said something else (again - paraphrasing) - Being angry with someone is like drinking poison and expecting it to hurt them.

If I had remembered the Dharma, I could have just (yeah right, just) heard the fat-shaming, felt the discomfort of being put on the spot and the hurt in the moment and let it go much more rapidly..

The Dharma Study Group I had been in for a while (and then left) has agreed to take me back. If nothing else, the group will serve as a touchstone for the Dharma. That's what I'm hoping for anyway.. a way to help me remember the teachings and in so doing lessening suffering.
