How Do They Fit It All In?

Cross

Since Christians are in the middle of Lent, one sees a lot of the following types of internet musings:

"The Christian journey is by definition a Lenten journey. Following Jesus through the cross should not be a special effort six weeks of the year; rather, it is the path into God. It is a path of conversion, a realization that we are unfinished, insecure and a bit broken. 'Conversion' is based on the Greek word 'metanoia' which literally means 'change of mind' or 'change of heart.'  What is this change of mind and heart?  It is essentially a process of 'unlearning' or rewiring our thoughts, attitudes and actions, from self-centeredness to God-centeredness."
—Ilia Delio

Perhaps that is true in the abstract, or as an aspirational rendering of the "The Christian Journey", but in real life, real everyday life in America, "The Christian Journey" is so much busier than simple metanoia.. what with all the other sacred Christian activities...

You know the ones I'm talking about..

...encouraging and supporting war mongers, book banning/burning, terrorizing trans people, keeping a lid on progress in science, terrorizing gay folks, overturning democracy, propping up autocrats, issuing death threats against those who dare to disagree with them, championing forced births, endangering pregnant women with ectopic pregnancies.. I could go on and on and on and on and on..

...and on...

So - I am left with the question - how do they fit it all in - the path of conversion, of metanoia, which one can only imagine to be a non-trivial task, and the manifold other (very important) Christian activities... They must just be world class experts at time management..

Respect.
