Three days ago I put up what I now know was a glib "Make Friends With Your Nightmares" post.  The night before last, my subconscious, never really interested in glibness, horked up a nightmare so vivid, I screamed while asleep... Twice.. And it was one of those strangled screams one does because one is asleep.. It made it all the more creepy for Doff (who I woke up...). We have an agreement that she won't wake me up during a nightmare, because I want to see what happens, start to finish in the dream, so she just put her hand on my shoulder and let the fun continue. This nightmare wasn't too long, but it was very real.. In the dream, I was laying on my back on top of the covers when something grabbed my feet and growled - not a canine growl - or an animal growl - but a human growl. That was scream number one. Then there was a jump cut in the dream and Doff and I were walking around the house looking for whatever grabbed my feet. She pushed open the door to a spare bedroom - just a crack - and looked in. She turned to me with a horrified look on her face and screamed open mouth - full voice.    That was scream number two.  I woke up shortly after that.  And - I can't say I really made friends with that nightmare... Hah.
