Okay Boomer - Go Take Your Metamucil And Watch Some Fox

(not my image - from azspot.net)

The above comic depicts what the artist believes would happen if today's young folks lived back around the time of Pearl Harbor.  He pokes the tired old tropes of lazy kids, preoccupied by their phones and worst of all - Quiet Quitting.. Obviously the artist doesn't have an accurate view of Millennials. He also conveniently forgets what the work environment was like eighty-one years ago..

Let me help, if I may.

First of all - Millennials.. I have two Millennial children who are both married to Millennials.. They are all smart, hardworking, big-hearted, brave, people doing important work in the world. Likewise - my Niece and Nephew also are incredibly hard working, whip-smart people and are doing work that matters to the world..  So - Mr Kelly - you need to get the fuck out more and meet some Millennials..

Secondly - How things were 81 years ago in American corporations.. Long ago, corporations used to pride themselves on providing lifetime employment with decent wages to American workers. Millennials live in a time when B-School nitwits have positively throttled the middle class with a brisk cadence of lay-offs, wage reductions, offshoring, and union-busting. Employees today are looked upon (regardless of what the Exec-U-Teevs say) as a necessary evil, an expense, something along the lines of office equipment. Eighty-one years ago, there was a common understanding that the company had you for forty hours a week and you had the rest for you and your family. These days, corporations want to own your entire life while they squeeze every last drop of productivity out of you. Back in the day - older workers were valued for their experience. Now we are labeled dino-babies and are targeted for "early retirement." Don't believe me? Welp - The Joe Big-Ass Corporation just settled a lawsuit with older workers it had hunted down and fired....just for being old.

In short - employment today is the Hunger Games (without the cool prizes at the end..) Boomers like Mr/Ms Kelly wouldn't last two seconds in today's environment. For one - they couldn't take the pace and for second - they'd be laid off already..

So - Mr/Ms Kelly - pick up a book once in a while and read some history of work in America - and get up off your ass and go meet some Millennials..

If Millennials or any other demographic is quiet quitting nowadays, there's a damn fucking good reason for it. Corporations at long (long) last are getting their comeuppance for treating employees like shit for decades.
