"Front Pushing Offshore"
Parker River Wildlife Refuge
Canon G7x Mark II
Snapseed
Driving up the rutted dirt road to Sandy Point,
Carl and I were escorted for about a
half mile or so by a large hawk.
(S)He flew right down the
middle of the road and
about 50 feet up..
right in front
of us.
After a time, (s)he peeled
off from us and went to
explore the marsh for
a mid-afternoon
snack.
It was probably a coincidence,
but it was a nice one...
Carl loves this place.
Although "just a Camry" (his words),
he gets to imagine himself
an off-road adventurer
whenever we go
there.
Occasionally, while we're banging
along the dusty road to
Sandy Point, he'll
quietly say "Liam**
can't do this
can he?"
I'll respond with, "Nope,
Liam is too sporty and
too low to the ground to venture
into these wilds." Carl will smile as
much as he is able and say "Yeah... poor Liam."
** Liam is Doff's car - much newer - sportier - faster
than Carl. Much to Liam's credit, he doesn't
flaunt these facts to Carl. Instead,
he is humble about himself
and always asks Carl
about how his
trips to the
refuge
went.
Very sweet.
