One of the Atheist blogs I read, "Atheist Revolution" had a post titled "How to Leave the Catholic Church." Apparently there are more than a few people leaving the Roman Boyz Club that want to "officially" leave the hi-jinx behind them. They need some church-y document stating that they're ex-Club members.   The article stated that you could send in a "Declaration of Defection from the Roman Catholic Church" otherwise known as "Actus formalis defectionis ab Ecclesia Catholica." You can get one if so inclined at this link. Once you fill it out, you mail it in to your Diocese and then they send you back a "Well - ok - if you're sure you know what you're doing...." kind of letter and you're out. As you can well imagine the Boyz Club has been getting a lot of these requests since all the boy-fucking was uncovered by The Boston Globe back in 2001... The Club, whatever you or I may think of them, are not a pack of fools.  Defections don't look good, so they started denying these defection requests...  Hah.. Here's the thing. Asking The Club to recognize your defection is ceding authority once again to an organization that deserves to have none. You know what you are. You don't need their certification.   Just leave. Just let go. Stop. Giving. Them. Money. Fuck their phony defection forms.  Just walk away..    No. Strike that...    Run. ~
