Barbarity On Display

 All Are Welcome (finished)

The new limited series 1923 is a prequel to the Paramount+ series Yellowstone. 1923 stars Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren. Although just a side-plot, 1923 vividly displays the monstrous barbarity that Roman Catholics visited upon indigenous children through their "schools."

It's just fucking horrible. Not the program - the history.

The acting is spot on. The imperious, pious, swagger of the Catholic Clergy is completely accurate (at least from my memory anyway)...

Here's a link to a clip from the 1923 series that I found deeply satisfying.. The situation portrayed in the clip is very realistic. Nuns at the schools I attended would often hit children for wrong answers. Some even exhibited the rage portrayed in the clip.. As in the clip, sometimes my classmates would fight back - but nowhere near as forcefully.. Perhaps if we had fought back with more regularity and more vigor, the good sisters would have lost their taste for beating children..
