Weight loss continues apace. After a little over six months I'm down 55lbs (209lbs). Better than that - recent bloodwork showed an excellent A1c level (at the 99th percentile for my age group). Cholesterol and triglycerides have plummeted back in to solidly healthy range. My Doc told me that I am nowhere near diabetic now, and not even close to PREdiabetic. All good news. Doc thinks that 200lbs is a good target weight for me. He says that with the muscle mass I have and the size of my skeleton, getting below 200 might be problematic. I respectfully disagree. I'm going to continue to eat this way (16:8 intermittent fast, low carb consumption, no alcohol, no sugar, no heavily processed food) and see where this body wants to get down to. I have a feeling that 190 or slightly below, 185, is quite possible. Daily exercise consists of time on the stationary bike as well as weight-bearing exercises for the upper body. Unlike the old days, I'm using baby weights so that I don't separate a long-underused tendon or ligament. Going for more tone than muscle mass. I feel good. I move better. My joints aren't as cranky as when they had to heave 264lbs here and there. I sleep pretty good, and am hoping against hope that as the fat continues to be burned up and tissue inflammation continues to recede, my airway will enlarge and I can permanently ditch the CPAP machine I've been hooked up to every night for years... Onward. ~ |
