The urge, the yearning, to use is always there. It's a patient yearning too. It waits for little chinks in the discipline to appear and then with a silky-smooth voice, it whispers things like "You should have a piece of cheese while you cook your meal." or "What's a little more peanut butter on your no-flour toasted bread going to harm? Just skip your afternoon snack.." And - you know - if I am not present enough to what is going on - I actually have that piece of cheese and apply more peanut-butter than what is a single serving. It's exhausting and more than a little frightening. ~ |
