Christianity today in the Empire is tripping over itself to exert its will over the rest of us. By "rest of us" I mean those of us who would like things such as: gun control, unfettered reproductive rights for women, the advancement of science, no more book bannings/burnings, no more demonizing LGBTQ+ people, compassionate care of immigrants, and - of course - fucking democracy. Honey-lamb, we ain't gwine tah get those things with what passes for Christianity here in God's country. In fact, we are on the royal road back to the dark ages if things keep up the way they are. The model for modern day Christianity needs to be dismantled. Something along the lines of a religionless, clergy-less arrangement should be explored. We won't of course - because at the core of today's Christianity is not Christ, but the insatiable rock-hard-n-throbbin' lust for power. We fucking love our powerful little in-crowds. It makes us feel just so warm and cozy. And - best of all - we can use our little in-crowds to beat the everloving shit out of anyone we disagree with... .... just like Jesus would have done, right? ~ |
