It's The Virus' Fault

Many of my fellow citizens are upset at the trajectory of the pandemic. It just doesn't seem to want to go away...

They blame the previous president, a scattershot approach to public health policy, Christians, podcasting know-nothings, and Republican lickspittles who - by denying the severity of the pandemic -  try to act how Daddy wants them to act.

I used to blame all of the above at one time or another, but I have changed.  I hold all of the above blameless.

I blame the virus.

Nearly 75% of dead COVID victims are 65 or older. Fat people also die a lot from COVID.

Now - I ask you - what two demographics in the Empire are more throw-away than the elderly and the overweight?  We house old folks in brick warehouses and infantilize them until they die. And fat people - well wouldn't it be nice for the slenders if they just died off and lowered everyone's medical insurance premiums?

If we really want prolonged, unified action on containing / eradicating COVID, then the virus will have to get a whole lot better at killing off white slenders. I for one cannot even begin to imagine the hue and cry if the truly beautiful of the Empire started dropping like flies.. I mean - really... we'd have a national vaxx mandate. There'd be free masks. Free test kits. There would be real contact tracing. There'd be no asinine protests about mandates.. All the "oh I need to do more research before getting vaxxed" bullshit would stop - right fucking quick..

So - yeah - the current pickle we find ourselves in is not our fault.. It's COVID's fault for (mostly) killing off groups of people we as a society couldn't give two shits about to begin with..

On the bright side: our poor response to the pandemic will allow the virus to keep mutating - and - nobody - not even the brights - know where that will end up.. perhaps one day the virus will wake up and decide to be all that it can be...
