But - And - Still - And -

Fall

"The Fallen"
Canon G7x Mark II
Snapseed

The season of falling (and the fallen)
has begun. Now it's poison ivy
leaves and a smattering of
maple leaves. Next
will come pine
needles
and
then - the
blizzard of oak leaves
that will fall right
into December.
I used to
resent picking
up leaves and driving
them to the dump or dragging
them off into the nearby trees...

- But -

Now that I am trying to join
the Church of The Slenders, yard work,
once looked upon as a waste of time
and life energy, is now
regarded as a way
to burn calories so
that I may
(once and for all)
cement
my membership
in that holiest of American
holies - Slenderville.

- And -

I know, I know, I'll never be a native
Slenderville-ian. I'll be a 'Green-Card'
resident. Native Slenders will always see
me coming a mile away. "Former
fatty." they'll whisper to
each other..

- Still -

Provisional membership in the cool kids club aside,
it is good to not be carrying extra weight
around. It's good to let go of that..

- And -

It begs the question -
"What else can I let go of?"

All sorts of things, I suspect...
